The Computer Science Department operates two Sun Servers. Sunfire v880 and the Enterprise 3000 as its primary computing resources. The systems are available to Computer Science students, faculty and staff for both course assignments and research work; most course work is handled by the Sunfire. The ongoing list of software can be found here:
Available User Software and current configurations are as follows:
The Sunfire v880
The department also operates three labs, one in Math Sciences 222, one in ms206 and one in MS 214. The MS222 lab contains 6 Sun Ultra 10 3D workstations and 12 Sun Blade 150 workstations and is available for all Computer Science students with an emphasis for our graduate students. The MS206 and MS214 lab are reserved for funded research projects. These labs are available upon key request from Beau Turner in ms219 with ID supplied and student is verified to be taking CS courses.
All CS Department systems are accessible through OSU's campus data network, from the CIS labs located around campus, and via Telnet, FTP and SSH from off campus. It is recommended routine access be made through a more secure application such as PuTTY if possible.
More information on using the Department's computers and facilities, including instructions for accessing the labs and connecting remotely, please select from the links at the top of this page.
